Pres.Erdogan: Türkiye expects concrete steps from Sweden for its NATO bid

PKK terrorists should not be allowed to protest with their organisation's rags in Sweden, says Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan after his meeting with Swedish premier Ulf Kristersson in Ankara.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that Ankara conveyed its expectation to see concrete steps from Sweden to fulfil anti-terrorism obligations under a deal clearing its bids to join NATO.
Speaking following his meeting with Sweden's Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson in Turkish capital Ankara on Tuesday, Erdogan also said the recent resumption of arms exports to Türkiye was a positive step.
He said Türkiye is pleased that the new Swedish government said it will comply with the tripartite memorandum signed between Sweden, Türkiye and Finland in Madrid.
"Sweden wants NATO membership for its own security, and Türkiye wants to see Sweden supporting Ankara's security concerns," Erdogan added.
"It is important that members of FETO terrorist organisation are extradited from Sweden," said Erdogan, urging more action on the matter.
Erdogan said PKK/PYD/YPG, FETO, and DHKP-C terrorist organisations must be prevented from exploiting Sweden's democratic environment, adding that PKK terrorists should not be allowed to protest with their organisation's rags in Sweden.

For his part, Swedish PM Kristersson said Stockholm understands that Ankara is fighting against PKK terror group and that Sweden wants to help with that fight.
According to the memorandum signed in Madrid by the three sides last June, Finland and Sweden agree to cooperate in Türkiye's fight against the PKK terror group, its offshoots, and FETO.
"There is great potential in our relationship with Türkiye, we can do a lot in trade and tourism," Kristersson said.
